ACD Working Group on Data and Informatics

Mission and Charge

In response to the incredible growth of large biomedical datasets, the Director of NIH has charged the Advisory Committee to the Director (ACD) to form a special Data and Informatics Working Group (DIWG). The DIWG will provide the ACD and the NIH Director with expert advice on the management, integration, and analysis of large biomedical datasets. The DIWG will address the following areas: research data spanning basic science through clinical and population research; administrative data related to grant applications, reviews, and management; and management of information technology (IT) at the NIH.

The DIWG is charged with producing final recommendations for Committee review by June 2012.
